At my day job I am on the backend, building a new microservice with Quarkus and hexagonal architecture.
I just published a post about an AI agent verifier: of five builds, it sent four back. Read the post
I published skeptic-agents (MIT licence): two agent skills cleaned up from the one I ran that batch with. garbarok/skeptic-agents
Still working on Rydger, my iOS app for the cost of your motorcycle or car. On 21 October I wrote up how I build it with Claude Code subagents. See Rydger
WealthSim, my compound interest calculator for iPhone: on 6 October I wrote up what I changed after finding that correct maths did not make the app usable. See WealthSim
REBT Calculator, my app for electricians that sizes cables and checks voltage drop under Spain's REBT regulation, is in testing and not out on Android yet. calculadorarebt.com

The true cost and maintenance of your motorcycle or car
Works out what every kilometre on your car or motorcycle really costs and reminds you about maintenance. It reads the odometer with the camera, tracks your rides and keeps the data on your device, synced through iCloud.
Estimates how your contributions could grow at the rate of return you choose, and separates what you put in from what interest earns. With monthly goals and plan comparisons, on iPhone and on the web.
I'm Óscar Gallego Ruiz, a software engineer and fullstack developer in Málaga, Spain (studied at the University of Málaga). I came to programming after a career change and have been writing software professionally since 2022: first with React, Next.js and NestJS, and now at Stibo DX, which makes editorial software for news organizations.
At Stibo DX I started on the Angular frontend and now work as a fullstack engineer: Angular applications and Java services with Dropwizard and Quarkus, SQL and Docker. Right now I'm building a new microservice with hexagonal architecture.
Before that I worked at MavelPoint, Check‑in Scan and AddComm, where I built Next.js and Astro apps, an Expo app for desktop and mobile, Stripe payments and NestJS APIs.
Outside work I build native iOS apps like Rydger and WealthSim, tools like REBT Calculator and SnapCompress (see all my projects), write on this blog about the tools I try (Astro, coding agents, SEO), and maintain GA4 Manager, an open-source Go CLI that sets up Google Analytics and Search Console from a YAML file.
Óscar Gallego Ruiz is a software engineer in Málaga, Spain. His background is mainly in frontend development, and he now works as a fullstack engineer at Stibo DX, using Angular and Java. Previously he worked with React, Next.js and NestJS. The blog covers AI coding agents, Astro and iOS apps, based on hands-on tests in his own projects.
